Terms of Use

Effective September 24, 2026. Chalkdust is licensed to you under Apple's Standard Licensed Application End User License Agreement, together with these terms. If they conflict, these terms apply to the extent the EULA allows.

Recording

You are responsible for having permission to record. Many schools and some jurisdictions require the consent of the instructor or of everyone being recorded. Don't use Chalkdust to record anyone without the permission the law or your school requires.

AI-generated study material

Notes, summaries, flashcards and quizzes are generated automatically from a transcript that is itself produced by speech recognition. They can contain mistakes or leave things out. Check anything important against the recording or your course materials. Chalkdust is a study aid, not a substitute for attending class or reading assigned material.

Chalkdust Pro subscriptions

The free tier includes notes for a limited number of lectures each month. Pro removes that limit, subject to a generous fair-use cap that exists only to prevent abuse.

Acceptable use

Don't use Chalkdust to break the law, to infringe others' rights, or to try to access, overload or reverse-engineer the service's servers. We may suspend access that abuses the service.

Your content

Your recordings and notes are yours. You give us permission to process transcript text only to generate study material for you, as described in the privacy policy.

No warranty; limitation of liability

Chalkdust is provided as is. To the fullest extent the law allows, we are not liable for lost recordings, inaccurate notes, grades, or any indirect or consequential loss arising from use of the app. Keep your own copies of anything important.

Changes

We may update these terms; the new version will be posted here with a new effective date. Continuing to use Chalkdust after a change means you accept it.
